Summary of Position (Purpose):
Primarily responsible for purchasing and controlling inventory of raw materials and components for manufacturing finished goods.
Job Responsibilities:
Negotiates with vendors regarding price quotes for new and special components.
Includes identifying and locating potential sources, analyzing quotations in terms of price, quality, availability, service, warranty, and the consistency of each.
Negotiates contract and blanket order renewals for existing business. Must be able to collect, organize and analyze data in a meaningful way to facilitate decision-making. Must be able to communicate this information to other plant locations to insure continuity between plants.
Must become proficient with AS/400 and J. D. Edwards operation, and be able to enter and maintain purchase orders and/or release/delivery information.
Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory levels of raw materials and other components required to manufacture finished goods. Includes verification of accuracy of receiving records (price and quantity), analyzing and/or adjusting releases from new or existing purchase orders, working with sales and/or engineering to identify upcoming orders and subsequent component requirements, researching any invoicing discrepancies for component/raw material purchases, etc. Must be able to make decisions based on the information collected above, and be able to communicate this information as necessary to all appropriate parties both internally and externally.
Must be able to process requisitions for maintenance, repair, and shop supplies. Includes verification of appropriate approval levels, verification of proper account coding, creation of purchase orders, and placement of approved orders.
Orders must properly identify the intended recipient of such orders and refer back to the Purchase Requisition number.
Must be able to maintain a high level of organization throughout all daily activities. To include, but not limited to, documentation of all verbal and written correspondence with others (internal and external), proper filing of such information, planning and scheduling of appointments and the coordination of such with others within the department and/or company, time management and the prioritization of tasks. Must document on the purchase order all details relative to supply of a given component to allow for tracking and/or follow-up by others in the event of absence of the employee.
Attendance at work, including presence at work during regular working hours or other schedule as may be assigned by the department manager, is essential. Acceptance of overtime assignments may also be required in order to meet departmental goals and objectives.
Must be courteous and professional to others (internal and external). Must maintain a “customer service” attitude toward plant, supervisory, and management personnel to insure that our ultimate customer receives the highest level of service. Must have the ability to interact with vendors, customers and others in a confident, professional manner.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Must have a good attendance record. Education & Work Experience: BS Degree in business; or equivalent experience At least five (5) years experience in the purchasing field Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge - Requires ability to understand and perform general arithmetic; speak and write in a clear and understandable manner for internal/external relations; understand difficult verbal and written instructions; understand data processing applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel; read blueprints and schematics; familiarity and experience with Marathon products and purchasing systems. Physical Requirements: Physical – Requires walking/standing approximately 30%, sitting approximately 70% and only minimal lifting involved; involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 5% of the time. Manual Dexterity – Requires use of hands and arms to operate computer, calculator, telephone, copy machine, other general office equipment and to record written information. Audible/Visual Demands – Requires ability to hear telephone and directions given, require ability to visually observe essential functions for satisfactory job performance, color perception and depth perception are required. Environmental – Requires capability of performing essential job functions in an established office environment under normal lighting and climate control tolerances, with some exposure to plant environments with the presence of dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control. Mental – Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to perform essential functions approximately 70% of time; periods of mental effort and concentration followed by other aspects of the job with lesser concentration and attention requirements.

Job/Position Summary: Primary duties include:
Develop, implement, and manage procurement strategies, objectives, policies and programs in the sourcing process domestically and internationally
Oversee the procurement of materials, components, supplies, and services necessary for the operation of the company
Proven the ability to develop and execute cost reduction plans, long term agreements, and right-sizing inventory strategies
Demonstrated track record of successfully sourcing in a competitive environment of commodity price escalation while maintaining or improving material pricing
Coordinate the team review and assessment of new candidate suppliers including managing the approval process through to production readiness
Develop and manage coordinate programs to leverage expenditures including purchasing initiatives in support of company objectives
Negotiate supplier contracts

Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures, ethical practices, and adherence to relevant laws and regulations Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or relative discipline
5 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
Proven negotiating skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, successfully drive simultaneous activities, meet deadlines, and achieve results
Familiarity with Procurement and Quality Supplier Metrics with flow-down to supplier contracts and performance reviews
Must demonstrate a strong business acumen including knowledge of manufacturing, finance, marketing, and quality to be able to understand the impact of sourcing decisions on the overall business success
Good interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels in a professional manner
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office products

Parts Development Specialist {Entry-Level Position}(MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA)
