Environment and Operations

Position Summary:

The Senior Manager of Environment and Operations is responsible for planning,
organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling the operating systems of
the plant including: the performance of general building maintenance and
custodial tasks, purchase and distribution of utilities, supervision of new
construction and remodelling of facilities, administration of contracts for
services, physical plant budget, supervision of physical plant personnel,
repair and maintenance (except production equipment maintenance), housekeeping
and supporting services of facilities, and systematic inspection, planning, and
accomplishing repairs to facilities, equipment (except production equipment)
and grounds. The Senior Manager is responsible for compliance with federal,
state and local regulations on air and water pollution, waste disposal, and
chemical releases as well as the health and safety of workers and compliance
with OSHA regulations.

 

Essential Functions:

Ensure efficient and effective services are provided.

Negotiate contracts for the provision of energy, water, and gas for the plant

Administer contracts for services provided to such as security,
landscaping, and janitorial.

Maintain an environment that is in clean, attractive, and orderly condition.

Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise functions an activities of the
department.

Establish the measures of success for the operations organization and ensure
that clear accountability is assigned for all key performance standards and
objectives.

Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to executive management.

Advise and inform executive management on physical plant matters and problem
areas

Supervise the plant’s buildings and grounds personnel; supervise tradesmen,
contractors and/or their employees hired for specific work.

Supervise negotiations and bids for construction and renovation contracts;
administer such contracts.

Discuss, plan, and delegate major project assignments to supervisory staff;
determine building and maintenance priorities of significant scope.

Maintain liaison with architects, engineers, and contractors/subcontractors
engaged in plant expansion, renovation, or other major projects. Act as the
principal point of contact in such efforts to ensure the interests of the
company are protected.

Maintain the repository for all plant blueprints and drawings. Maintain
sufficient records, files, controls, and procedures to ensure management and
work production.

Ensure that quality systems are effective in fully meeting all customer requirements
for quality, service and delivery.

Ensure effective systems for process control, inspection, testing, and
documentation control are in place and followed.

Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and
procedures, conferring with executive management.

Review and recommend to Executive management improvements for company policies,
procedures, and practices related to Environmental and Operations.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations and requirements
for environmental issues.

Ensure that all appropriate environmental certification requirements are
achieved and maintained.

Ensure compliance with hazardous materials disposal regulations.

Maintain ISO 14001 certification for environmental compliance.

Maintain the facility in an “inspection ready" state at all times,
assuring the department operates within federal, state, and local regulations

Provide scientific and technical guidance, support, coordination, and oversight
to governmental agencies, environmental programs, industry, or the public.

Process and review environmental permits, licenses, and related materials.

Prepare the annual budget for physical facilities. Maintain cost and budget
objectives in accordance with company directives.

Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management Systems (BMS)
and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) requirements.

Meet all other requirements as assigned.

The company develops batteries for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and micro-air vehicles (MAV) and has expertise in working with government agencies, the military, and large original equipment manufacturers is seeking a Mechanical Engineer
  • Responsible for mechanical design of all new products
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of current products mechanical features
  • Responsible to design, build, qualify, and install assembly fixtures for electronics and battery manufacturing.
  • Responsible for development of documentation for all fixtures and tooling. 
  • Responsible for managing outside development of hard tooling.
  • Develop Preventative Maintenance Program for all manufacturing tooling and equipment
  • Develop Project timelines, cost proposals, statement of work, and specifications
  • Complete solicitations in response to government announcements or  requests
  • Must be familiar with, and capable of, performing thorough design analysis – including:  FMEA, fault-tree, etc.
  • Work closely with internal and external customers.
  • Must effectively manage time to complete multiple projects on-time. 
  • Design for manufacturability.
  • Articulate ideas within cross-functional discussions. 
  • Present or assist in the presentation of design ideas, issue resolution, and analysis of technical data. 
  • Perform and facilitate specification reviews, design reviews and technical data analysis.
  • Must have technical writing and drawing skills – including the creation of: component and system drawings and specifications, test reports, technical sections of proposals, bill-of-material (BOM), test procedures, test fixtures, and other engineering documents.

Key Experience Requirements:
  • 3+ years in Project Development including program management, project management, cost proposals
  • 3+ years experience in manufacturing company.  3+ years experience with CAD/CAM and 3D modeling. 
  • Hands on experience with traditional Machine Shop Equipment
  • 3+ years experience with battery packs and power systems capable of supplying 30+ watts (average) for cordless tools, laptop computers, medical devices, or handheld radios.
  • Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Materials, and Tooling Standards required.
  • Familiar with battery and charger safety requirements.
  • Designing for compliance with regulatory agency requirements including: UL, FCC, IEC, DOT, FDA, etc.

Other Requirements:
  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Technical Discipline -  ME preferred
  • Speak, read, and write effective English. 
  • Ability to communicate at professional level in both spoken and written form. 
  • Must be US Citizen.
  • Experience with ATE systems.
